Sibu plays host to foreign devotees for World Tua Pek Kong Festival

SIBU: Sibu Tua Pek Kong Temple Committee hosted the 9th World Tua Pek Kong Festival last weekend, drawing participation from foreign countries.

The foreign devotees were from Denmark, the Philippines, China, Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan and Macau.

The three-day event also celebrated the 120th anniversary of the reconstruction of Sibu Eng Ann Teng Tua Pek Kong

Temple.

The celebration culminated with a banquet on Sunday evening at a leading hotel here, attended by Second Finance Minister and Minister of International Trade and E-commerce Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh as the guest of honour.

Besides Wong, Sibu Eng Ann Teng Tua Pek Kong Temple chairman Pengulu Soon Choon Hoo also spoke.

At the function, the five Chinese independent secondary schools here each received RM5,000 from the temple.
