KUCHING: Lubok Antu MP Datuk William Nyallau Badak today denied that he had ever said in private or public that he wishes to withdraw from getting renominated by Barisan Nasional (BN) in the next parliamentary election.

Nyallau said in fact the reverse is true because he still wishes to continue serving the people of Lubok Antu as their MP.

“It is not true that I ever mentioned wanting to withdraw in private or public. In fact I still want to represent the people of Lubok Antu as their member of Parliament even after the next election. I have a good track record and am still able to carry on,” he said when met today.

He said the false allegation that he sought withdrawal was the work of certain quarters who are lobbying to become BN candidate for Lubok Antu and also to put a wedge between him (Nyallau) and the top leadership of Parti Rakyat Sarawak, of which he is a member.

He said he has no problem or issue with the party leaders including its Women Chief Datuk Doris Sophia Brodie whom was said to be canvasing for support in the state’s southern region, particularly for seats held by PRS.

When asked if he knew of the group wanting to unseat him, he said: “The fact that they do not want their identity known in the papers only goes to show their character.”

Nyallau however conceded that it was normal for people to lobby to become BN candidate but he advised them not to resort to lying and deceit.

He was refuting an earlier news report that alleged he is seeking for a golden handshake in lieu of Lubok Antu seat in the next parliamentary polls, which may be called by early next year.
