48 shuttlers vie for Miri Police honours

MIRI: The doubles combination of Cpl Roslan Buang and Cpl Roslam Muhamed won the senior event at the Badminton Super Series tournament held at Miri Police Headquarters (IPD Miri) on Tuesday night.

They defeated Cpl Mohd Ali Tara-Abg Ramli Abg Drahman in the final.

Finishing third and fourth were Sgt Bayan Ujang-Ustaz Fauzi Abdul Aziz and Estil Ningkan-Cpl Ibrahim Unai respectively.

In the veteran category, Cpl Osman Morni and Constable Sobri Satimin beat the pair of Cpl Wasli Merikan-Cpl Bob Guna in the final.

Sgt Johnny Sandi-Cpl Md Yazli Misni were third and Cpl Mohd Kasim Asarin-Cpl Mohd Ridwan Awang fourth.

Acting Miri Police chief Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit, who gave away the prizes, commended IPD Miri for organising the tournament which attracted 48 players from the police, General Operation Force (PGA) and the public.

“We hope such activity would be continued in the near future to further strengthen cooperation and relationship between police and public while at the same time promoting healthy lifestyle among members of the force,” he said.

A total of 24 doubles pairs took part in the month-long tournament which started in April in conjunction with the 210th Police Day celebration.
