75 Sarawak shuttlers for National Circuit tourney

KUCHING: Sukma shuttler Flora Fong Xin Jie will be looking to defend her titles in the Girls U16 singles and Girls U16 doubles in the National Junior Circuit Zone B 2nd Leg badminton championship at the Sarawak Badminton Association (SBA) Hall along Jalan Lapangan Terbang from May 18 to 21.

Flora, who won the singles title and doubles title with Lloyderyena Xalfira Simon in the 1st Leg in Putrajaya from March 8-12, gets a first round bye as the top seed in the Girls U16 singles.

She will meet Tioh Hui Ting of Johor in the second round and if she passes that hurdle, her opponent in the last eight will either be Ng Yue of Johor or the winner of the first round between Chong Yoong Sim of Penang and Samantha Lee of Sarawak.

The other Sarawak pair of Kashley Kho Tze Yin and Wong Ling Ching will also be looking to defend their title in the Girls U14 doubles.

Sarawak will be fielding 75 players including 33 girls in the competition which is also participated by Johor with 58 players, Penang (31), Putrajaya (28) and Pahang (12).

The state team is managed by SBA treasurer Soh Theng Sai.

Events to be competed are Boys/Girls U12, U14, U16 singles and doubles.
