KUCHING: The Sarawak Lawn Bowls Association (Salba) will be organising the Dato Sri Mohammad Ali Mahmud Cup at the Sarawak Lawn Bowls Arena in Petra Jaya this weekend.

Salba president Awang Mahyan Awang Mohamed said the competition is expected to be stiff with the participation of good local players including the Sukma XIX shadow team members.

“The main objective of organising this competition is to select the best players to represent Sarawak in the Tan Sri P Ramlee Cup which will be held soon.

“The response thus far has been very encouraging with the confirmation of former and current Sukma as well as Sukma shadow team,” he said, adding that the competition would serve as a venue to expose the Sukma shadow team players in preparation for the 19th edition of Sukan Malaysia in Perak next year.

“On behalf of Salba, I would like to thank Stakan assemblyman Dato Sri Mohammad Ali Mahmud for agreeing to be the patron of the competition and Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang for being the advisor.

“Their valuable support has enabled us to continue organising this competition every year,” he added.

Attractive prizes await the winners.
