Man’s body found in waters near mall

KOTA KINABALU: The body of a West Malaysian man was found floating in the waters behind Suria Sabah Shopping Mall, here on Thursday.

The victim, identified as Kong Kim Ming, 26, from Batu Caves, Selangor was found floating in the water by members of the public around 10.52pm on May 18.

City police chief ACP M. Chandra said a police forensic team was deployed to the location but did not find any criminal element on the victim’s body.

“Police have classified the case as a sudden death as no foul play was found at the scene or on the victim’s body, but a thorough investigation is still being conducted,” he said, adding that the victim’s body had been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post-mortem.

Chandra also urged anyone with information on the victim to come forward to assist police in their investigation.
