MIRI: The fifth Knowledge Roadshow Intervention Programme (Program Intervensi Kembara Ilmu) is being held in Miri City to benefit eleven potential farming entrepreneurs from Long Bedian, Long Laput and Sibuti.

The six-day programme which started on Monday (May 15) is organised by Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Miri with seven other departments and organisations.

According to the library’s public relations officer Sofina Tan, the programme was part of their efforts to reach out to the rural and suburban community with knowledge-sharing and lifelong learning activities.

Among the activities were talks by officials from the Welfare Department, Agriculture Department, and Health Department as well as from Miri Hospital and the library who gave participants the opportunity to learn basic information and communication technology (ICT) skills like basic computer skills and how to communicate via social networks.

“There is also a site visit to the Kebuluh Agriculture Station on May 19, to enable the participants who are potential entrepreneurs to see for themselves how commercial agriculture is carried out,” Tan said when met at the roadshow on Thursday.

Sibuti MP Ahmad Lai Bujang is scheduled to officially close the event on Saturday night where the acting chief executive officer of Pustaka Negeri Sarawak, Arpah Adenan, is also expected to be present.
