SIBU: Youngster Aaron Loh Wee Liang shot down 55 points to win the inaugural Sibu Division Archery Association (SDAA) in-house archery shootout held at Sibu Archery Centre last weekend.

Eric Tiong collected 50 points to rank second followed by Amanda Ting Bao Er.

A total of 24 members took part in the competition.

Each shot six arrows with six ends in the qualifying round with the top eight proceeding to the knockout stage before two of them competed in the final shootout with six arrows each.

SDAA president Tiong Kiong King said the tournament gave a platform for players to showcase their skills and foster closer ties among them.

“Outstanding archers will be shortlisted to represent Sarawak for selected competitions at state level,” he said.

He was also happy to note that most of the players attended the recent state-level coaching course and the National Level 1 Coaching Course held in Sibu.

“This year Sukan Sarawak will be held in Kuching from Dec 14 to 17 and our association can also play its role to assist and look for talented archers to represent Sibu zone,” Tiong added.
