TM committed to spearhead ICT development in Sarawak

KUCHING: Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) is committed to spearheading the development and implementation of information and communications technology (ICT) in Sarawak through TM’s end-to-end integrated solutions and service portfolio.

According to wholly owned TM subsidiary VADS Bhd’s (VADS) chief executive officer (CEO) Nizam Arshad, this portfolio comprises their five product pillars namely; Connectivity, information and communication technology (ICT), business process outsourcing (BPO), Smart Services, Data Centre and Cloud.

“These solutions and services will serve as the enabler and accelerator for digital business transformation to boost business growth and assist enterprises realise its full potential,” he said at TM Biz Fusion 2017 yesterday.

During the press conference, Nizam highlighted TM’s mobility service, specifically on the group’s webe service launched September 30 last year in Kuala Lumpur. The webe service is currently available in Kuching.

“The other thing I’d like to point out is our latest new twin core data centre in Johor Bahru that we launched recently, and that has a capacity of 20,000 square feet (sq ft),” he said, adding that it can be expanded to 60,000 sq ft.

This, he stressed, meant that they have the capacity to expand.

On another note, TM state enterprise general manager Azida Mohamed Burhan said prioritising customers’ needs is necesasary to stay current in today’s market.

“That is becoming obvious as customers — even we ourselves are customers — we can switch (telcos) just like that. It is no longer about the brands that we follow.

“For the most part, you are looking at what would give them the most convenience in terms of how can I actually get your service, how can I get the after-sales support,” she said.

TM held its fourth leg of TM Biz Fusion 2017 yesterday in Kuching, carrying the theme “The Journey Towards Convergence Begins Here”.

The event, targeting medium, large enterprises and public sectors particularly in the retail, manufacturing and oil and gas industries, aims to enlighten enterprises on how they can significantly boost their business value, enhance profitability and improve efficiencies through digital transformation.

TM Biz Fusion 2017 is organised to increase the awareness among local enterprises about the importance of ICT utilisation and help them recognise the potential benefits that ICT offers.

“As Malaysia’s Convergence Champion, we aspire to be the one-stop converged solutions provider and TM will continue to offer relevant convergence propositions to our customers via the five pillars of Smarter Living, Smarter Businesses, Smarter Cities, Smarter Communities and a Smarter Nation,” Nizam added in a statement.

“In line with our visiton of ‘Making Life and Business Easier, for a Better Malaysia’, we continue to invest an intensify our efforts towards building capacity and capability as well as widening market reach in new growth areas such as Cloud, Smart and Digital services to enhance productivity and competitiveness, especially for business to business to consumer (B2B2C) business models.

“We are also leveraging on our mobility Centre of Excellence, webe to power machine to machine (M2M) communication in smart services offering, encompassing credit card Point of Sales (POS), remote meter reading for utility services, wireless Automated Teller Machine (ATM) and supervisory and data acquisition (SCADA) for remote monitoring of machines in manufacturing industry.”
