MIRI: Miri Division Anti-Drug Action Council (MTMD) is all out to eradicate drug abuse at the grassroots.

Miri Resident Sherrina Hussain who chaired MTMD’s first meeting at the Resident’s Office here yesterday wanted all departments and agencies as well as community leaders to give their commitment to help the police and Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) in the war against drug abuse.

“Cooperation between departments, agencies and community leaders is vital to ensure targets set under MTMD can be achieved.

“The most important thing for this first meeting is how to coordinate and synergise this MTMD effectively to tackle  social ills related to drug abuse.”

Thus, Sherrina wanted MTMD to be the main platform for its committee to share inputs and to look for effective solutions to nib the problem.

In addition, she welcomed the suggestion to train and provide necessary skills to the community leaders on how to handle drug abuse in their areas.

Also attending the meeting were Miri district officer Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf and AADK Sarawak assistant director (Prevention and Publicity) Winnie Lugit.
