Police arrest men for drugs, motorcycle theft in separate cases

KUCHING: Police arrested a man for drug possession following a raid at an apartment complex at Jalan Urat Mata on Wednesday.

District police chief ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai, who confirmed the arrest when contacted yesterday, said the

36-year-old suspect from Jalan Song was found in possession Syabu and ketamine worth over RM1,500.

“The suspect later tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine, and will be investigated under Sections 39A(1), 12(2), and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.

In a separate case, Abang Ahmad disclosed the arrest of a man under Op Bersepadu Lejang on Wednesday on suspicion of committing motorcycle theft.

He said the 30-year-old suspect was flagged down by a police patrol unit at Jalan Green Hill around 4pm after he was spotted behaving suspiciously in front of an inn.

“A check revealed the motorcycle had been fitted with fake license plates and had been reported stolen in the city on May 2,” said Abang Ahmad.

He added that the suspect, who hails from Lundu, is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for motorcycle theft.
