Chinese consul praises chamber for promoting cooperation

KOTA KINABALU: Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu, Chen Peijie has praised Malaysia China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) Sabah branch for promoting mutual visits and interactions between Sabah and China, which would potentially lead to reliable collaboration partners and pragmatic cooperation opportunities.

She hoped that the chamber would follow up on the business matching sessions with their counterparts in China to ensure the trip would result in concrete outcomes.

Chen said this as MCCC Sabah branch president Datuk Frankie Liew briefed her on the chamber’s recent visit to several major cities in China in a courtesy call on Thursday.

He said the Minister of Special Tasks Datuk Teo Chee Kang, Assistant Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Pang Yuk Ming and Deputy Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly Datuk Dr Johnson Tee were among the delegates.

Liew said the delegation had conducted business matching sessions and dialogues on agriculture, food, tourism and property sectors with leaders and entrepreneurs in China during the visit.

He also praised Chen for her support and contribution to local business community, associations and schools.

He said China’s Belt and Road initiative have brought great benefits and win-win outcomes to many countries, including Malaysia.

“Today, China tourists can be seen in many parts of the world, which shows the great influence and effect of the Belt and Road initiative.”

Also present at the courtesy call were MCCC Sabah branch vice president Foo Ngee Kee and treasurer Datuk Soh Poh Soon.
