MIRI: Former Bukit Aman (federal police) Criminal Investigation Department Special Task Force on Organised Crime (STAFOC) assistant director I (Intelligence) ACP Lim Meng Seah has been appointed the new police chief here replacing ACP Khoo Leng Huat who retires today.

The handing over of duties ceremony between Lim and Khoo was held at the Miri District Police Headquarters here yesterday and witnessed by Sarawak deputy commissioner Datuk Abdul Aziz Yusof.

Also present at the event were Miri deputy district police chief Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit, heads of departments, and senior police officers.

In his speech, Lim said he would emulate Khoo’s dedication in carrying out his duties.

“If there are changes in the future, it is to improve and enhance what has been done by Tuan Khoo. To achieve the goals and objectives, I need the help and support of our fellow officers and division chiefs of the Miri district,” said Lim.

In his speech Abdul Aziz said, “Khoo is an example (to be emulated) in that  although he only served for nearly eight months as police chief before retiring, he remained fully committed in the line of duty. I hope all officers can cooperate with the new chief, Tuan Lim as what you had done with Tuan Khoo before.”

Lim, 54, is from Taiping, Perak and have been with the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) for 33 years.
