Foreign women nabbed in ambush on entertainment outlet

The five foreign women cover their faces after being arrested by the police in an ambush on Friday night.

MIRI: Miri Police arrested five foreign women suspected to be prostitutes during an ambush of an entertainment outlet in Kuala Baram on Friday night.

Four of the five women are Indonesians aged 20 to 33 while the remaining one is a 31-year-old Vietnamese.

During the 7.30pm ambush led by ASP Unang Giang, police also arrested a 19-year-old local man believed to be the caretaker of the premises.

Miri deputy police chief, Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit when contacted confirmed the arrest and that police also seized a condom, cash amounting to RM156, and a bottle of massage oil.

The caretaker of the outlet is being investigated under Section 372a of the Penal Code for earning from the prostitution activities of the five foreign women.

Meanwhile, the women are being investigated under Section 372b of the Penal Code which carries a one-year jail or fine, or both upon conviction.
