MIRI: Some 80 orphans from Hamidah Yakup Welfare Complex were treated to an array of sumptuous delights during pre-Ramadan dinner at Miri Marriot Resort & Spa (MMRS)’s Zest Restaurant on Friday.

Hosted by MMRS, Muslim clients from various corporate and government bodies were also invited to the dinner.

MP for Sibuti Ahmad Lai Bujang was among the guests at the pre-Ramadan dinner. Also present were Miri Resident Sherrina Hussain, Miri Mayor Adam Yii, District Officer Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf and Councillor Sardon Zainal.

General manager of MMRS Marc Cosyns said the event was part of the resort’s efforts to give back to the community.

“We believe that sharing hospitality and kindness goes beyond our comfort zones and it is important we remember the less fortunate to remind us of things we take for granted in life especially during this month of Ramadan.

He said each year, MMRS would embark on various programmes to give back to the community in need during the festive season. Thus, breaking fast with clients was the resort’s way of showing its appreciation for their support and loyalty, especially in this season of thanksgiving and reflection. To welcome the fasting month, the resort offers diners an extravagant feast to share the bliss of the holy month.

A scrumptious spread of Ramadan delights will be served at the resort’s in-house restaurant throughout the month of Ramadan from 6.30pm to 10.30pm with a six-day menu rotation, each offering something a little different.

Some of the top hit Ramadan menu items will be retained on a daily basis such as shawarma, meat, fish from the grill station and rendang.

In addition to that, the restaurant is also providing guests an abundant spread of delicious traditional local cuisine and international specialties which are available during the Ramadan buffet.

While enjoying the food, the diners can watch the chefs demonstrate their expertise in food preparation at live cooking stations.

The Ramadan buffet dinner is priced at RM88 net per adult and half price for children aged 6 to 11 years.

For the first week of Ramadan, the restaurant is offering a special group dining promotion where every 20 paying diners would be entitled to five free diners. In the following weeks, there would be no charge for two with dinner for 12 pax.
