Abdul Karim leads state tourism delegates in Guangzhou trip

KUCHING: Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah made his first official overseas trip to Guangzhou, China recently in his capacity as the state’s new Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister.

The ministry, in a statement, said during the trip Abdul Karim and his delegation met up with representatives of Guangdong Tourism Bureau to discuss on areas of joint promotions as well as marketing with Sarawak.

In Guangzhou, Abdul Karim also spoke at the Malaysia-China Tourism Summit as well as attended the premiere of ‘Blue Tear’ – touted as the ‘first ever online movie’ – which was filmed in Miri last year.

His delegates include Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin, Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports permanent secretary Datu Ik Pahon Joyik, and Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) acting chief executive officer Mary Wan Mering.
