JOHOR BAHRU: Johor police checked 217 individuals including 69 foreigners yesterday, as part of their security control measures focusing on public places in the state to curb crime and Daesh activities.
State CID chief, Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said in a statement that the foreigners comprised 18 men from Indonesia, 16 from Singapore and 13 each from Bangladesh and Nepal, as well as nine Singaporean women. However, no arrests were made.
He said the CID’s ‘men in black’ (MIB) were deployed at busy public locations such as hypermarkets, bus terminals, Senai International Airport and ferry terminals, as well as banks and goldsmith shops for security monitoring.
“The MIB are being mobilised statewide to give confidence to the public on the security level, besides curbing crime and Daesh activities.
“They comprise 10 CID officers and personnel from Muar, Tangkak, Segamat, Kluang, Mersing, Batu Pahat, Pontian, Johor Bahru North, Johor Bahru South, Seri Alam, Iskandar Puteri, Kulai and Kota Tinggi,” he said.
Kamarul Zaman said this deployment would be continued based on the need and situation in ensuring public safety in the state. — Bernama
