Wong pledges UPP’s support for Pujut by-election BN candidate

MIRI: United People’s Party (UPP) president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh has called on Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties to close rank behind whoever is chosen as BN candidate for the Pujut by-election while pledging his party’s support for the BN candidate.

“We have made our intention known and clear that we are ready to work alongside to win back Pujut for the sake of the people in Pujut,” said Wong after chairing the party’s meeting here yesterday.

Wong also disclosed that they have submitted the name list of the potential and winnable candidates for the by-election.

“It is up to BN top leadership to assess and pick who is the winnable candidate and we leave the decision to state BN leaders.”

Also present were deputy party president Dr Jerip Susil, UPP Youth chief Dr Johnichal Rayong, Pujut UPP chairman Bruce Chai, Senadin Woman wing chairlady Suzanne Hii, Keith Chin Senadin chairman and Lawrence Kong youth leader.

Chin who also spoke said UPP’s Miri Region Liaison Committee is set to help in the by-election.

“We have done a lot of ground works we have managed to solve a lot of issues. We continue to try to resolve problems and challenges faced by people in  Pujut.” he said
