Eight women nabbed for suspected prostitution

The women being led to Miri Central Police Station on Friday night after their arrest for suspected prostitution.

MIRI: Miri Police arrested eight foreign women aged 32 to 54 for suspected involvement in prostitution during an ambush of a reflexology centre near Boulevard Commercial Centre at about 10pm on Friday.

Police also arrested a 54-year-old man suspected to be the caretaker of the premises.

Miri police chief, ACP Lim Meng Seah confirmed the arrest and that police had seized several new and used condoms, massage oil, cash and working uniforms from the premises.

“They are being investigated under Section 372a of the Penal Code and Section 372b of the same code for prostitution and Section 39B of the Immigration Act 1959/1964 for violating their social visit passes,” he said.
