KUCHING: Every Barisan Nasional (BN) elected representative in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) receives RM2 million of Minor Rural Project (MRP) fund a year to service their constituency.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian said an additional RM2 million of MRP will be allocated to a BN minister in the state cabinet.

“For an elected representative who is also a minister, the total MRP fund allocated is RM4 million. Meaning to say, for an elected representative, it is RM2 million and if you’re appointed  minister, there is an additional RM2 million,” he clarified in a statement yesterday.

Dr Sim was clarifying his recent statement that BN elected representatives are each given Rural Transformation Programme funds worth RM5 million and Minor Rural Project (MRP) funds worth RM4 million a year.

He said these funds were allocated to elected representatives of the BN ruling parties.
