PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak yesterday called on the people to build on the momentum that has been created from the many recent achievements of the country for greater success in the future.

“We have created a momentum, so we must build on the momentum,” he said at the monthly assembly of the Prime Minister’s Department at Dataran Perdana Putra here.

Najib referred to the Riyadh summit of Muslim leaders and US President Donald Trump and said Malaysia was one of the five countries accorded the honour of addressing the meeting.

“Only five of the 51 countries attending were given the honour of addressing the summit. This was a success for Malaysia,” he said.

Saying that a responsible government fulfilled promises made for the well-being of the people, the Prime Minister cited the completed 51-km Sungai Buloh-Kajang phase of the Mass Rapid Transit project that would go into operation next month.

“We do not make empty promises. We do not venture into anything that cannot be done. As a responsible government, we fulfil the promises that we make,” he said.

Najib also touched on the National Key Results Areas (NKRAs), which he said recorded achievements of 101 per cent, and the National Key Economic Areas (NKEAs), which he said recorded achievements of 110 per cent.

“We must carry on achieving successes and step up our efforts because I want 2017 to be the Year of Delivery and show that we, as a government, can meet all our targets,” he said.

Najib, who is also the finance minister, said the country’s economic achievement in the first quarter of this year was extraordinary, recording a growth of 5.6 per cent, and the value of exports registered RM82.83 billion in March.

He also said that BAV Consulting and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania reported that Malaysia was the best country to invest in. — Bernama
