SEA Games torch in Mulu on June 10

MIRI: Mulu is picked to be part of the 2017 SEA Games Torch Run due to the prestige of  Mulu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The torch will be carried on a jouney on June 10 by 29 main runners including three former Sukma gold medalists Watson Nyambek, Filicia Muyat and Donny Jeranting.

This was disclosed by Miri Resident Sherrina Husaini during a press conference held at her office yesterday afternoon.

Also present were a political secretary to Chief Minister Charles Balan Seling, Ministry of Youth and Sport Sarawak representative  Mohd Shukeri Drahman,  MSNS Miri officer Harifen Mansor and representatives of Youth and Sports Department Miri, the Police, Immigration Department and Sarawak Rivers Board.

Mulu state assemblyman Datuk Gerawat Galawill will flag off the run at Mulu Airport at 7am.

The torch will travel to Mulu National Park jetty to be received by Marudi state assemblyman Datuk Penguang Manggil.

Penguang and the torch runners will board a boat to Kampung Batu Bungan, Penan village before the journey ends at Clear Water Cave. The torch will finally be passed to Sherrina who will hand it over to Sibu Resident Hii Chang Kee.
