KUALA LUMPUR: Puspakom Sdn Bhd is offering free inspection service, known as volunteer vehicle inspection (VVI), for private vehicles between June 13 and 23 in conjunction with Aidilfitri.

Its chief executive officer, Mohammed Shukor Ismail, said the free service would be provided in tandem with the company’s “#drivesafenoregrets” campaign and to encourage vehicle owners to send their vehicles for inspection before driving back  to their hometowns for the celebration.

“Last year, Puspakom inspected 3,000 vehicles and we expect an increase of 10 per cent in conjunction with the campaign,” he said in a media statement here today.

The free inspection will be available at all Puspakom inspection centres between 8 am and 5 pm, except in Shah Alam, Taman Bukit Maluri, Mak Mandin and Kota Bharu, as they are reserved only for commercial vehicles.

During the #drivesafenoregrets campaign, Puspakom will also organise a caption writing contest.

In conjunction with the coming Aidilfitri, operation hours at some Puspakom centres will be extended from 8 am to 5 pm, instead of 8 am to 4 pm normally, on June 17.

They are at its centres at Wangsa Maju, Batu Caves, Petaling Jaya, Cheras, Mak Mandin, Teluk Kumbar, Alor Setar, Gopeng, Kuantan, Alor Gajah, Seremban, Johor Bahru, Skudai, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu. – Bernama
