PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is ready to cooperate with the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) following the arrest of its officer for allegedly demanding money from a policeman.
In a statement today, the MACC stressed that they would not compromise with the officer who allegedly committed the offence in Bukit Mertajam, Penang yesterday.
“Such an act does not represent this commission which always supports the principle of law and the federal constitution in carrying out the responsibilities entrusted.”
Thus, the MACC welcomes the arrest by PDRM and would not interfere in their investigation.
Following the arrest, the MACC would conduct an internal auditing of all its staff in order to avoid a repeat in the future.
“The MACC will not budge even an inch and if there are officers who commit such a crime, we will take stern action against them for tarnishing the good name of the MACC,” said the statement. – Bernama
