KUCHING: Serian FA cannot confirm whether they will be in the FAM League next season.

The team finished runner-up in this year’s national fourth-tier Liga Bolasepak Rakyat (LBR) and are now promoted to the FAM League.

According to team officials, there is a possiblity that the team will not take advantage of the promotion due to financial and administrative constraints.

Most of the players are semi-professionals only who have careers other than playing football.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Serian FA team manager Philip Jabu revealed that a decision could be made at an upcoming meeting.

“Whether we participate in the FAM League next season or not, we can only answer after the meeting which we hold soon. For us, there are many pros and cons participating in the FAM League,” he added.

If they opt out of the third-tier FAM League next season, Serian FA will still compete again in the LBR with the aim to win it this time.

Serian FA, which was only assembled last year, narrowly lost the LBR title to Gua Musang by goal difference.

Meanwhile, the players received incentives from the team management for their achievement at a simple ceremony held at a local hotel on Satuday.

“We want the players to know that we appreciate them for their services to the team. I hope these players will stay with the team next season and help Serian FA win more silverware,” Philip said.
