KUCHING: Forty-seven participants from state sports associations, schools and the Institute of Teacher Education Tun Abdul Razak Campus (IPGKTAR) are attending the National Sports Science Level II (SPKK) Course under the National Coaching Academy of Malaysia at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatics Centre from June 12-16.

Course coordinator Jubali Suhaili said the response was good, covering a good geographical representation of participants.

Trainee teachers, who are also members of the Sarawak Taekwondo Association (WTF), from IPGKTAR under Dr Chin Ngien Siong would be fully accredited with Sports Science Level III by the time they graduate, thereby providing them a direct route into the coaching and teaching profession.

Sarawak Sports Corporation CEO cum Sarawak State Sports Council director Dr Ong Kong Swee said acquiring the Sports Science Level I, II and III would be a pre-requisite for any coach to be accredited under the SSC and MSNS coaching programmes in order to develop high quality and professional coaches to achieve the KRA 6 in developing Sarawak into a sports powerhouse in Malaysia.

The course was conducted by the National Coaching Academy appointed instructors Dr Chin Ngien Siong, Gordon Nicolaus Jemat Anchang, Dana Raja Narayanasamy, Lim Eng Hooi, Rizal and Dr Pathmanthan K Suppiah.
