KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas’ leadership team, led by president and group chief executive officer Datuk Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin yesterday signed the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) Corruption-Free Pledge (CFP), strengthening the company’s resolve towards becoming a graft-free organisation.

The signing of the pledge, witnessed by Petronas chairman Tan Sri Sidek Hassan and MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad, signifies Petronas’ continuous commitment in upholding high standards of governance and in combating any form of corruption within its organisation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sidek said that it was essential for Petronas – entrusted to manage and add value to the country’s oil and gas resources – to practice the highest standards of integrity, ethics and corporate governance at all times.

Highlighting Integrity as one of the four shared values instilled in Petronas’ corporate culture, Sidek said good governance was key to ensuring the resilience and continuity of the company.

“I am very pleased that the signing of the Corruption-free Pledge will be signed by the leadership team. This signifies the “Tone at The Top”.

“Not only it exemplifies “leadership by example” but also leaders who have “Zero Tolerance” towards bribery and corruption” he added.

Petronas practices zero tolerance towards corruption and has in place systems and processes that support the Government’s anti-corruption agenda.

A signatory to the Corporate Integrity Pledge (CIP) since 2012, the company is committed to infusing a high integrity culture among its most valuable asset, its people.

Since 2012, Petronas has been working closely with MACC on various initiatives to combat corruption and misconduct in the company.

Petronas has also introduced a No Gift Policy, upgraded the Code of Conduct and Business Ethics, Whistleblowing Policy and Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy and Guidelines.

The signing of the CFP is part of planned activities leading up to the Petronas Integrity Week which takes place from November 5 to 9, 2017, in conjunction with the annual Malaysia National Integrity Day on November 5.
