Police arrest one M’sian, 3 Indonesian Daesh suspects

KUALA LUMPUR: The police have arrested four men, three of them Indonesians, for their alleged involvement in the Daesh militant group, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said today.

He said three of them were arrested in Sandakan, Sabah, yesterday, including the two Indonesians who allegedly wanted to join the ongoing armed conflict in Marawi, the Philippines, between Philippine government security forces and militants affiliated to Daesh.

The third Indonesian was detained in Slim River, Perak, and he allegedly planned to attack policemen, Khalid said to reporters at the handing over of duties of the director of the Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, here.

Khalid said all the suspects, aged between 30 and 48, were arrested under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA) and the Penal Code.

He also said that the police seized several Daesh-related documents and a number of weapons including a Rambo knife that was recovered in Sandakan. – Bernama
