KENINGAU: Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup said the confidence of the people, especially young people, to join Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) proves that the party is able to fight and defend their welfare, especially in Sabah.

“The confidence and support for the party is growing at all levels,” he said when opening the Laraman Family Day and meet-the-people session organized by the Kampung Dalit Gana Area Neighborhood Watch (KRT) here on Saturday.

At the event, Kurup, who is also PBRS president, received 20 new members into the party.

He said the transparent struggle of the party continued to capture the hearts of people, especially young people.

Kurup, who is also Pensiangan member of parliament, urged the Area Neighborhood Watch (KRT) to always be active and alert in implementing programs to inculcate unity and celebrate diversity towards the success of the 2050 National Transformation Program.

On the Family Day, he described it as a catalyst for brotherhood and family relations as well as to strengthen solidarity.

Also present were Central PBRS Youth chief Matusin Bowie, Kampung Dalit Gana village head and KRT chairman Gunong Laraman.

Meanwhile, PBRS deputy president Arthur Joseph Kurup said the support and commitment of parents are very important to ensure the success of their children’s education.

He said this year Nabawan had recorded improvement in the SPM results, being the highest and the best in this state.

“This success is due to the commitment of parents and teachers in ensuring that pupils continue to excel in their educational attainment,” he said at the presentation of the Hari Raya assistance at Kampung 4 Murni C and D in Nabawan on Saturday.

Arthur hoped that the people will continue to support the government’s efforts to improve the standard of education.

He said the sports complex, hospital class clinic and the construction of the Trusmadi secondary school in Sook will help to raise the community standard of education and health in the area.

With such facilities, he said it will then give greater opportunities to the people in the area to continue to advance.

At the event, Arthur also donated Hari Raya assistance to 100 people, including single mothers and the asnaf in the village.
