MIRI: A restaurant, a hotel, a bakery and a food manufacturing facility here have received halal certification for their operations from the state Islamic Affairs Department (Jais).

Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) president Datu Misnu Taha presented the certificates to representatives of Shukie Café, Boulevard Entreprise (Miri) Sdn Bhd for Imperial Hotel Miri, D’Light Bread House and Café, and Hua Chan Sauce Factory (Miri) Sdn Bhd, during a simple ceremony that took place at Imperial Hotel here yesterday.

The handover was witnessed by Jais director Ismail Mohd Hanis and Jais Miri officer Lukman Sahram.

According to Jais, the application for the Malaysian halal certification can be done online through the MYeHALAL system, via www.halal.gov.my.

“However, the supporting documents (for the application) have to be submitted to Jais.

“For renewals (of certification), the application has to be submitted earlier – at least three months before the expiry date written on the given certificate.

“The MYeHALAL system would automatically reject any application that is without the required information,” it said, adding that a letter on certification service charge would be issued to the applicants upon the completion and submission of their online application.
