SIBU: The police here are assisting their counterparts in Mukah to probe the sodomy case allegedly committed by a 42-year-old teacher against his male student.

District police chief ACP Saiful Bahri said his men are currently helping the police in Mukah to collect evidence, as some of the more than 50 sodomy offences against the boy were allegedly committed here.

He also revealed that Sibu police did not open an investigation file as the report was made in Mukah, but pointed out that one will be opened if another report of the alleged crime was lodged in Sibu.

The case came to light on June 14 when the traumatised boy could no longer stand the alleged crime of his teacher, who is said to have repeatedly sodomised him over the past two years.

The boy alleged the crime began when he was a Primary Six student in Kapit. He was only 12 then.

Although the boy is now studying in Mukah, the teacher allegedly continued looking for him.

It is said the boy had been too scared to reveal the crime until recently when he told another teacher in Mukah.

A police report was lodged in Mukah on June 14.
