MIRI: Miri City Council (MCC) deputy mayor Julaihi Mohamad has suggested turning the long-abandoned Tudan Bus Terminal into an activity centre for big bikers here.
The bus terminal was once an ideal venue for local hawkers to trade.
“The Tudan Bus Terminal has been long-abandoned. Why not the big bikers clubs here transform it into a place to hold their events? If you agree with my proposal, you can head over to the Special Affairs Department (Jasa) here and we will discuss the matter further.
“I would support the application for transforming the bus terminal into an activity centre for big bikers in Miri,” said Julaihi in his speech during the ‘Sungkei Ngan Bikers’ programme at 1629 Food Truck’s, Wireless Walk Miri here on Sunday.
The event, organised by the Department of Special Affairs (Jasa) Miri branch in conjunction with their ‘Program Membara P.219 Miri Ihya’ Ramadhan 2017’, managed to gather over 100 big bikers from 10 big bikers clubs in Miri, including the Miri Riders Motor Club, Dash Owner Motor Club, LC Crew Sarawak, Modenas Kriss Motor Club, K.M.J.M Sarawak, Casado Lady’s Riders, Miri Vespa Club, Wilayah Sarawak Cars & Motorcycles Club, Kawan Motosport and Sarawak Nmax Community. All the clubs are under the 1JPJ Miri Youth Squad.
“This event also serves as a platform for the big bikers here to strengthen their relationships and to get to know each other better. I hope to see more cooperation among the members, especially in organising activities, in an effort to further develop Miri City socially and economically,” he said.
Julaihi also welcomed the cooperation among the big bikers with MCC in many things that can contribute to society, among them keeping Miri City clean.
“I would like to urge the big bikers to put stickers with words that can help to promote the awareness about cleanliness on their bikes. This is one of the ways that they can use to contribute to their beloved city.
“Apart from that, the big bikers can also work with the council to think of several ways in helping the local community, which goes along with the main objective of the establishment of their clubs,” he added.
Apart from taking part in lucky draws, members of the big bikers clubs also received certificates of appreciation for being part of the event.
Jasa information officer Dayang Norazelina Hamdan was present at the event.
