KUCHING: Lubok Antu Assemblyman Datuk William Nyallau Badak is thankful that Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan has made the journey from Kuching to Sri Aman to help the needy.

He witnessed the handover of six wheelchairs to the disabled and elderly and a one-off food handover of rice, cooking oil, salt, sugar, biscuits, noodles, Milo, oats and Pampers to 29 needy families from Hope Place yesterday.

He also announced an allocation of RM100,000 to build a store to keep food items for needy folks in Lubuk Antu from charities like Hope Place.

“We are also launching the Mini Outstation Charity Project 2018 at Lubuk Antu where 26 families were adopted by Hope Place for a year. Hope Place needs to raise RM35,000 for the project before December this year and I hope the public can help,” said William.

At the event, Wan said another 10 needy families are applying for help from Hope Place.

Hope Place, an NGO, visits poor and less fortunate families to deliver essentials like rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt, biscuits and noodles. Those barely earning enough to get through the month are grateful for these basic necessities. Hope Place provides milk powder, oats and diapers to families looking after children with special needs or the elderly.
