MIRI: Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau lauded the Sabah Sarawak Gas Pipeline project for bringing economic spin-offs to the local community in his constituency.

He said the average family income in his area has increased, resulting in people having more disposable income, leisure time and career options.

“We have thousands of university and college graduates, we can see cars moving in and out our district, including Long Lama bazaar, and more businesses springing up. I am thankful to Petronas, particularly through the project, as various assistance or help have been rendered to the community through corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects,” he said during a Gawai gathering for Long Lama folks hosted by Petronas recently.

Adding that the mutual understanding between the people and Petronas benefitted both parties, Dennis called on the people to look for long-term benefits through the mammoth project as well as other projects.

In thanking the people, the pipeline project’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) head Suffian Sabeli said support and cooperation from the people will benefit both parties in years to come.

More than 300 people from various agencies, local churches, as well as and community leaders attended the gathering.
