State Fama targets RM1.3 million from Ramadan bazaar sales

KUCHING: The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) Sarawak targets to collect up to RM1.3 million in revenue from Ramadan bazaars and pre-Syawal special sales this year.

As of June 21, the revenue garnered from Ramadan bazaars throughout the state was RM931,436, said the state Fama in a statement issued at the launch of pre-Syawal special sales at Medan Niaga Satok here yesterday.

Last year, Fama Sarawak collected RM1.16 million from Ramadan bazaars and pre-Syawal special sales, exceeding its target of RM1 million.

Works Minister and Petra Jaya MP Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Minister Datuk Anthony Nogeh Gumbek jointly launched the special sales for consumers, Muslims in particular to purchase items necessary for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

This year, a total of 150 traders are taking part in the sales at Medan Niaga Satok. State Fama also organised ‘My Best Buy Programme’ in conjunction with the pre-Syawal event.

According to the authority, the programme that comes under the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) 10 is meant to reach out to the low-income group in terms of buying certain cooking ingredients and products at reasonable price.

Among the ingredients are control items such as cooking oil and sugar as well as products like kek lapis (layered cake).

State Fama pointed out that 10 locations including Medan Niaga Satok had been designated for the pre-Syawal special sales that involved 517 participants.

The other locations are Demak Laut Commercial Centre that sees 51 participants, Matang Jaya Commercial Centre’s carpark (32 participants), Bandar Baru Semariang Commercial Centre’s carpark (32), Federal Complex Jalan Simpang Tiga (18), Simpang 4, Jalan Sesang Nyabor (39), Taman Permai Sibu (66), Kpg Tian, Matu (75), Daro Town’s carpark (16) and Kpg Belading, Tedungan Limbang (38).
