SIBU: It is everyone’s joint responsibility at all levels to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Sibu Municipal Council chairman Datuk Tiong Thai King emphasised that everyone should play their respective roles in making sure that places where they live and work will be kept clean at all times.
“The sense of belonging is very important as without it, we will not bother to keep our own place clean. There are some areas where people still simply throwing rubbish as they like by just dumping it by the road side.
“Such an irresponsible attitude should not be practised because it will only cause our environment to get dirty and polluted,” he added when speaking at the Cleaning Campaign here yesterday.
The programme was jointly organised by the Grand Height Garden Community Association Sibu in collaboration with Sibu Municipal Council.
Tiong said living in filthy surroundings will definitely affect a family’s health.
“Once we ourselves and our families get ill due to a dirty environment, it will then affecting our level of productivity and our daily routine.
“Thus, to make sure that we live healthily, we all must work closely hand in hand to maintain a clean environment, like what has been initiated by the Grand Height Garden Community Association Sibu,” he added.
Tiong said a clean environment will boost the level of good health and also a place’s public image in the eyes of visitors.
