SAR team yet to locate crocodile attack victim

Members of the SAR team have yet to locate the victim.

PUSA: The search and recover (SAR) operation for a crocodile attack victim at Sungai Plasan in Beladin entered its second day yesterday, with no lead so far.

Betong Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations officer Henry Jugah said as at 5pm yesterday, the SAR team had yet to find any trace of the victim.

“The SAR operation, which commenced at 10.30am, failed to find the victim or any trace of him,” he said, adding that the team utilised two boats belonging to the villagers for the operation.

The team of seven comprised members of the police, Civil Defence Force and a representative from an oil palm plantation.

“Our focus is the 3km radius upriver, but we’ve found nothing so far,” said Henry.

It is said that Sulaiman, 25, from Bulukumba in Indonesia, was captured by a crocodile while fishing with his friends on Friday.

The operation resumes today.
