SIBU: A jobless woman, believed to be under the influence of drugs, was arrested in Sibu Jaya after she stormed into a police station and physically assaulted a policeman yesterday afternoon.

In the incident around 1.50pm, the 32-year-old initially showed up at the police station and began bothering policemen at the guard house.

One of the policemen then called for backup from his colleagues to apprehend the woman, who was then brought into the station for questioning.

Once inside, she began causing a ruckus and physically attacked one of the policemen, who was left with scratches on his body and other injuries.

The woman was promptly arrested and subjected to a urine test, which confirmed she had ingested drugs.

District police chief ACP Saiful Bahri Abdullah confirmed the incident, saying the police were now probing the case under

Section 90 of the Police Act for preventing a police officer from executing his duty, as well as Section 332 of the Penal Code for causing hurt.
