BINTULU: Parents must work closely with teachers and school management to ensure that their children would get the best access to education, advised Samalaju assemblyman Majang Renggi.
In this regard, he believed that the parent-teacher associations (PTAs) could play a vital role in that they could engage with several non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and corporate players that are active in education-related activities.
“Through a combination of PTAs, NGOs and corporate bodies, it will enable the schools to run motivational and educational programmes for their students,” he said at the closing of the ‘Excellence Motivational Programme’ at SK Kem Batu 18 here recently.
The programme was jointly run by the school and the Bintulu branch of Sarawak Dayak Graduates Association (SDGA).
Adding on, Majang advised the parents here to provide special sections in their houses for their children to study or do school projects. “Moreover, allow your children to take part in healthy activities such as this motivational programme. The children should take advantage of these programmes to help them excel further in their studies and co-curricular activities,” he said.
On SDGA Bintulu, the assemblyman commended the association for actively carrying out various programmes for the rural folk, especially students.
On this, he hoped that SDGA Bintulu would expand its activities to other schools in the interiors of Sarawak.
“This is to benefit the rural folk, especially the parents.”
Later, Majang announced an allocation of RM7,000 for SDGA Bintulu to organise more education-related programmes across this division.
