PUTRAJAYA: Members of the public yesterday swarmed the booth of the Accountant-General’s Department (AGD) that was set up at the lobby of the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry for exhibition and inspection of Unclaimed Monies (WTD) after the matter was viraled in the social media.

A check by Bernama found that residents of  Putrajaya and the surrounding  areas as well as civil servants from  the ministries nearby had line-up as early as 9am although the session would only begin from 11am until 3pm.

A staff of the AGD said the department’s counter had been operating earlier than schedule in view of the presence of a large number of people wishing to make an inspection at the eight counters of WTD Register that were put up.

“We received a very large number of visitors today and began to set up our counters at about 10am.

“But members of the public should know that the WTD check can be made any time during office hours at the Unclaimed Monies Division, Level 42, Menara Maybank, Kuala Lumpur,” he said.

He said the check could only be made by the account holder personally by only bringing his or her identity card and the WTD would be transferred directly into their account that is active. — Bernama
