KOTA KINABALU: Hackers have attempted to hack the Sabah government computer system but have not been able to infiltrate it.

This revelation was shared by Sabah State Computer Department director Dr Haji Minggu Hj Jumaan yesterday.

He said that the department also had not received any complaints concerning ransomware which was a worldwide phenomenon.

He stressed that security was very important for the department as they looked after government data.

“We must ensure the safety of these data,” he said.

Earlier, Minggu attended the department’s SSA CIO Conference 2017, an annual affair which was graced by Resource Development and Information Technology Minister Datuk Siringan Gubat.

Siringan in his speech said that the government must double its effort to transform its digital services.

The event was attended by over 200 government personnel.
