Fifth rabies case confirmed

KUCHING: A new rabies case involving a 52-year-old man from Kpg Remun, Serian has been confirmed through lab test on July 18.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the man has a history of being bitten by a dog in early May this year.

“On July 11, he suffered weak limbs, numbness and backache as well as confusion, and has been admitted to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further treatment,” he said in a press statement today.

Therefore, he said as of July 18, there were five rabies cases in Serian where four victims had passed away and this latest case is still being treated in SGH.
