Man electrocuted while carrying out illegal power connection

SANDAKAN : A 35-year-old man here died from electrocution while carrying out illegal power connection from a squatter area to the Sabah Electricity Sendirian Berhad (SESB) substation at Kampung Cahaya Baru, Mile 3 here on July 16.

Initial investigation revealed the deceased and his friend went to the SESB substation for illegal power connection around 5pm.

However, he was electrocuted while carrying out the activity.

The deceased, who was identified as Abdul Barham Bin Kamar, was later sent to the Duchess of Kent Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead at 9.10pm on the same day.

It is  learned that the victim frequently carried out the illegal power connection as requested by squatters.

Sandakan police chief, ACP Azhar Mohd Hamin yesterday confirmed the incident and classified the case as sudden death.
