KAPIT: Efforts to eliminate the sale of illegal lottery in and around the town saw police arrest two men along Jalan Selirik and Jalan Amang on Saturday afternoon.

District police chief DSP Freddy Bian said the first arrest was made at 2.30pm at a canteen at Jalan Selirik following a tip-off when CID personnel detained a local male and seized a mobile phone, stationeries, a mobile printer and RM93.

“This was followed by the arrest of a second male at 2.50pm at a bus stop at Jalan Amang. Seized from the suspect were a mobile phone, a piece of paper with four digit numbers written on it, a mobile printer, and RM67,” said Freddy when contacted yesterday.

The OCPD went on to warn illegal lottery sellers to cease their operation as the police will not tolerate such activity.

“What they are doing is against the law. I urge them to stop immediately or face stern police action.”

The two suspects, meanwhile, are being investigated under Section 4A(a) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953.
