GES edu-fair gives visitors info about studying overseas

The University of Adelaide in Australia is among the top tertiary education institutions in the world.

SIBU: The Global Educational Services (M) Sdn Bhd (GES) will hold education fairs at various venues across Sarawak and Sabah, aimed at providing visitors especially school-leavers with information on studying overseas.

Admission is free and brochures from different participating universities are available for visitors.

“Australia has been one of the top destinations for studying abroad. In line with the trend of studying abroad at a younger age, the number of high school students studying in Australia has been increasing.

“As such, University of Adelaide College and Murdoch Institute of Technology Australia will send their representatives to the fair to provide free educational counselling for both students and parents,” said a GES spokesperson.

The University of Adelaide College is a five-minute walk from the University of Adelaide.

This college offers Foundation Studies and Degree Transfer programmes for high-school sophomores and pre-university diploma holders.

Upon completion of courses, students will be transferred to the University of Adelaide for their first or second year in business, engineering, information technology and liberal arts studies to complete their Bachelor’s degree.

Swinburne University of Technology is an Australian elite university with nearly 100 years of history. It is highly reputed for science and technology courses.

The campus is located on the eastern outskirts of Melbourne Hawthorn area, with other campuses at Prahran, Wantirna, Croydon, and one in Sarawak.

Swinburne has many degree programmes such as Business and Management; Engineering, Information and Communication Technology; Media and Communications; Science, Health Science and Psychology; Film, Television and Digital Media; Design, Aviation, Arts and Social Sciences.

The university has been providing TAFE qualifications for more than 100 years. After completing their diplomas, students could pursue degree programmes available at the university.

Curtin University, reputed as the largest university in Western Australia, has five main schools – Business; Science And Engineering; College Of Humanities; Aboriginal Research Institute; and Health Sciences. The university’s degree courses are recognised worldwide and it is ranked second by 2017 QS Professional Ranking for Mining Engineering Courses. Its other courses such as Architecture, Art Design, Earth and Marine Science, Nursing, Sports-related Professions, Education and Training are all ranked among the world’s Top 100.

“Students are advised to bring along academic transcripts (SPM/STPM/A-Levels/Foundation/Diploma/Degree) for consultation or application, as well as for consideration of scholarships (terms and condition apply) when they visit the fair,” advised the GES spokesperson.

For the Sarawak leg, the fair will take place at Pullman Hotel Miri this July 28 from 2pm to 6pm; Promenade Hotel Bintulu (July 29, 1pm-5pm); Tanahmas Hotel Sibu (July 30, 1pm-5pm); and Pullman Hotel Kuching (Aug 5, 1pm-5pm).
