KAPIT: Police personnel here yesterday signed a Corruption-Free Pledge against all forms of corruption, abuse of power and irregularities.

The ceremony, held at the district police headquarters’ multi-purpose hall, was led by OCPD DSP Freddy Bian and witnessed by two officers from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

Freddy, in his speech, explained that the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) was the first agency under the Home Ministry to sign the Corruption-Free Pledge throughout the country yesterday.

“All personnel are required to take the oath and sign (the pledge).

“The objective is to stay away from malpractices and corruption, and for policemen to uphold the highest level of discipline and responsibility when discharging their duties,” he said.

Freddy added that as the leading agency tasked with maintaining peace, order and security in the country, PDRM personnel must be disciplined and have good morals and integrity.

“Any rotten apple, even if just one or two in the force, would tarnish the image of PDRM. Don’t ever abuse the authority for personal benefit. Take the oath seriously,” he stressed.
