South Kalimantan police dismantles online prostitution

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: The Directorate of General Crime Investigation of the South Kalimantan Police has uncovered an online prostitution syndicate who provides call girls to several regions across Indonesia, AnataraNewsKalsel reported.

“The suspects who acted as pimps have a ring of supplying call girls in seven major cities, namely Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Banjarmasin, and Balikpapan,” said South Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Brigjen Rachmat Mulyana here on Monday.

Disclosure of the two pimps, Delbra Anggara alias Papi (32) and Fanny Widjaja (30), starting from the information received by the Unit of Human Trafficking Crime (TPPO) Subdit IV Youth, Children and Women (Renakta) Directorate of General Crime Investigation (reskrimum) about a syndicate who offer call girls through online booking via social media.

Police then investigated to find out the origins of WhatsApp Messenger and BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) accounts and found the prostitution network is controlled by someone in Surabaya, East Java.

The joint team of TPPO led by Chief of Subdit IV Renakta AKBP Siti Zubaidah together with the Head Unit TPPO Comr Sudirman and Resmob Unit led by Head Unit Jatanras Comr Didik Subiyakto and Second Inspector (Ipda) Joni Arif went to Surabaya to make an arrest.

“We were working with Jatanras of Surabaya Police to arrest the suspects and directly taken to Banjarmasin to undergo the legal process,” explained police chief accompanied by Ditreskrimum Director Sr Comr Sofyan Hidayat when exposing the case in South Kalimantan Police Headquarters.

He continued to say from the hands of suspects Delbra and Anggara who live in East Kalilom Lor 4/ 19-20 RT17 Tanah Kali Kedinding, Surabaya, police confiscated some evidence of their crimes.

Among them a number of ATM cards on behalf of the suspect, money Rp1.000.000 from the victim, proof of transfer from the victim to the suspect Fanny Widjaya and one key room card of Hotel Aria Barito Banjarmasin.

“The suspects are charged under Article 2 (1), Article 9, Article 10, Article 11, Article 12 of Law No. 21 of 2007 on TPPO and or Article 296 or Article 56 (1) of the Criminal Code,” said South Kalimantan Police Chief.ung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Banjarmasin, and Balikpapan.
