KUCHING: District Criminal Investigations Department (CID) chief Supt Lim Bak Phai is moving on to take a new position as Hulu Selangor District police chief.

Lim has been in Sarawak since Feb 4, 2013.

Taking on his role will be DSP Mohd Fazri Yusof, the former Serian District CID chief.

“I would like to thank everybody at Kuching District and state CID for the support and cooperation rendered all these years,” Lim said after the official handing-over-of-duties to Fazri at Kuching district police headquarters in Simpang Tiga yesterday.

Head of state CID SAC Dato Dev Kumar was present to witness the handing-over ceremony.

Lim also conveyed his gratitude to the police for the trust given to him to assume the post of a district police chief and was confident that Fazri would be able to carry out his duties in Kuching well.

Dev Kumar, meanwhile, said Lim had played a vital role in the department and had met his key performance index (KPI) by solving crimes and making many arrests.

“He is also fast and efficient when it came to reporting cases,” he said.

Dev Kumar also reminded Fazri on what to expect, saying Kuching and Serian were not the same.

“In the first six months of this year, Kuching recorded a total of 899 crime cases compared to only 75 cases in Serian. Fazri will have to adjust to a more challenging environment in Kuching.”

District police chief ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai was also present at the function.
