KUCHING: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) raided three offices here this morning, believed to be involved in the purchase of a four-star hotel by Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FIC).

The three offices are located at Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce, Jalan Petanak and Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg near here, consisting of a developer, property agent and property valuer.

When contacted, MACC Investigation Division director Datuk Simi Abd Ghani confirmed the raid which was simultaneously carried out on the three offices at about 10am today.

“This raid was carried out to seize all information and documents related to the purchase of this hotel by the FIC.

“All information and documents seized will be brought to the MACC office here for further investigation to find out if there are elements of corruption in the purchase of this hotel,” he said.

In the meantime, MACC investigators are currently evaluating the information received on the purchase of the hotel allegedly bought by FIC at an inflated price about two years ago.

Preliminary investigation indicated that the purchase of the hotel resulted in the loss of hundreds of millions of ringgit to the FIC.

The teams raiding the offices are said to be from the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.
