Sibu Drag Battle attracts over 1,000 fans

SIBU: An event called Sibu Drag Battle 2017 attracted over 1,000 spectators over the last weekend at Sibu Old Airport site in Datuk Teng Chin Hua Road here.

The spotlight was on some 100 racing motorcycles although the programme included car races.

Organised by PB Motorsport with the support of PBB Nangka Service Centre, it was an opportunity for motor vehicle lovers from throughout the state to exhibit their modified and speed enhanced vehicles.

Organising chairman Zainudin Abu Talip revealed that the event was the third of its kind held in the central region.

The motorcycle drag race was categorised into 2T True Street 150cc, 4T Pro Street 110cc, 2T Pro Street 110cc, 4T Pro Street 150cc, 2T Pro Street 150cc, 4T Open 150cc and Raja Drag Motorcycle.

The car drag race was classified into seven categories, namely open diesel turbo, diesel pro street, N/A Open, VTEC pro drag, four-door VTEC, turbo open under 1300cc and turbo open 660cc.

Prizes were given away by political secretary to the Chief Minister Christopher Romeo Tegong.

Meanwhile, Zainudin was already looking forward to the next event which will likely be staged towards the end of the year.

“We’ll then get a local oil company to sponsor it,” he said.
